Tequila!

Last night I went to see the Teenager-in-waiting perform in a dance show at the local theatre. She was, as you would expect, extremely good and I genuinely enjoyed the show.

During the interval I had a look at the programme and looked through the names of the children. Rebecca... Lauren... Chloe...Hannah...Tequila. Tequila?

I can only imagine this was her mum's favourite drink, but should you be naming your kids after your favourite tipple? Based on that idea I've decided to rename my two daughters. From now on they will be known as Colombard and Shiraz.

I'm glad you enjoyed the show. The kids put so many efforts in their performance and they deserve to have fun. Following your inspiration (and that unknown mother's of course!) I've also decided to rename my youngs with Baileys and Pinot (Grigio). Sounds daft but fashionable. Good night. A.

It's a good thing I don't have kids; I might have been tempted to name them Bourbon and Rye... ;-)

An excellent idea, which would have helped enormously with our lack of inspiration when naming our girls. I hereby re-baptise them Chablis and Merlot.

Anonymous - I've noticed a few children now sport the name Bailey, and both boys and girls too.

Antonella, excellent choice of names - and I agree we need to keep up with the fashion!

Audi - there's still time!

MTJAM - and why not? The name Chardonnay caught on after the Footballers' Wives TV series didn't it?

I officially dub my children Coffee and Dr. Pepper. Oh look, one of them is going to be a doctor!

Love your blog!

I once heard a mother calling to her children in the supermarked. "come here" she screeched "Ciabatta, Chianti, will you get over her NOW". Heaven. Pure heaven.

I'm wondering if that was what the mum was drinking when she conceived? If that is the case than if I am preggars this month I guess I will have to name the baby Mai Tai?

Welsh Girl - Ciabatta and Chianti? That is pure brilliance! Can you imagine being named after a loaf of bread? I wonder if there are any kids called Hovis?

YM - that actually sounds really nice! Mai Tai it is then!

Tessa, that's not a bad idea. I bet they are your boys' real names aren't they?

Ha ha ha. I feel I just have to join in with this, but as I sit here with my cup of tea and realise what my favourite tipple really is...even in jest I can hardly name my children tea and coffee...can I???

Can Absinthe be far behind?

In our neighbourhood we've got twins Sienna and a Sierra. What a lot of bother.

Ooh and Chablis was in the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Maternal Tales, what about Tetley and Capucchino - they have quite a ring to them methinks!

Clever Pup - hello there! Absinthe is a fab name for a child. Sienna and Sierra? Why?

Ok... I will change Small Childs name to Veuve then!
