A different way to celebrate Mothers' Day

I can't avoid the fact that it's Mothers' Day this coming Sunday.

It's a bittersweet day for me these days because while it'll be lovely for me to receive flowers or cards or maybe even a little present from my gorgeous girls, it's also a poignant reminder that since losing her to breast cancer four years ago the flowers I buy for my Mum will be laid quietly next to her name.

And this year will be the first Mothers' day for so many people who have lost their own Mum since last year, and my heart aches for them too because I know just how hard it will be.

So, to mark this year's event and to honour the memory of my own wonderful Mum I've signed up for a Race for Life, and I'll be doing a 5km jog/limp on 5th June and hopefully raising some money for cancer research. Both of my girls will be doing it too to remember their lovely Nana, who they still miss and talk about often.  I'll be posting more details nearer the time but in the meantime I'll be hoping to go from couch potato to 5km jogger in the next few weeks.  Pray for me....
