Shang-a-Lang: I was a Bay City Roller fan and here's a photo to prove it

Linda at Got Your Hands Full did a post about the Bay City Rollers the other day which prompted me to look for an old photo.  This, my bloggy friends, is me aged 14 in my Bay City Roller outfit: calf-length trousers with tartan trim, stripey socks, short denim jacket with tartan trim and a tartan scarf.  Classy or what? I was a major Bay City Roller fan - Eric was my favourite.  Check out the weird pose that makes me look like I need the loo.  And note the fantastic 70s wallpaper and ace colour scheme in my parents' living room.

I still have all of their vinyl LPs* stashed away in a suitcase somewhere at the back of a cupboard, along with badges and other fan paraphenalia.

In the bottom right hand corner of the photo is my then 4-year-old brother sitting cross-legged on the settee in his stripey pjs.  He is now a 6' 3" officer in the navy.

Okay, you can stop laughing now.  Please.

*LPs - long players to all you youngsters out there.

Fab picture. We also had brown & orange decor back in the 70's. I can't remember the Bay City Rollers at all from my childhood, maybe my Mum screened me from them.

that has to be one of the best photos ever! LOL on the LP definition!

Not one of us will be laughing when you dig out the records and sell them for a fortune to a millionaire collector lol (not me btw, don't have the millions). Great photo though:) Jen.

You look fabulous darling. Funny how little brothers grow up. It is hard to believe my little brother turned 30 and got married last year!

That's hilarious! Growing up in the decade which taste forgot means you must have quite a lot of dodgy pictures. Very funny. The comment about your brother made me laugh too, my 'baby' brother is seven years younger than me but is now 6'1" and an officer in the RAF.

Lovely jubbly! You look better dressed than the group who insisted on nothing under their jackets. Loving the wallpaper which reminds me of Del Boy's curtains in Only Fools and Horses for some reason! x Thank you so much for posting this!!

Okay -- you are just too cute!!!\

And OMG, we loved 'em here in the States too :D My mother used to laugh at me singing that real popular song of theirs at the top of my lungs with every bit of plaid I could find on..something about a Saturday Night, you know the one. Wish I had a pic like yours ;)

Oooh, you should take a picture of your girls at the same age and save it with some of their fave music -- it would be cute thing to show their kids someday!

Oh, the stories we all could tell! And you told yours..one of them anyway. I love the photo. I lived in a house with similar colors. What will our kids think of their homes in thirty-forty years?

I certainly remember the Bay City Rollers.

BTW, I love your new banner.
